Oxford Gray Wool and Cotton jean cloth blanket. 100% wool yarns woven on a cotton warp in a jean weave (1x2 twill) Lined in osnaburg
We offer this lined jean cloth blanket to match descriptions of cloth blankets used in the period. Quartermaster records mention lining fabric which was not blanketing so that it could be used as blankets for troops in the field. We offer this blanket with a small opening between the jean and lining so that it could be stuffed for added warmth. A period reference mentions stuffing these types of blankets with leaves or moss for added warmth. We offer the blanket completely closed up if you prefer not to use this option. These cloth blankets have a seam down the middle as seen in original cloth blankets. Domestic jean cloth of the period was of narrower width and would have a paneled seam in the middle of the blanket to make it wide enough for use as a blanket.
This blanket has been pre-shrunk so it won't shrink after getting wet in the field.
