This jacket is made of our all wool Blue Gray Kersey and lined in our quality osnaburg.  Made in the USA of materials manufactured in the USA. It has a six piece body, two piece sleeves, nine button front with script I buttons non buttoning belt loops, non buttoning shoulder straps. It is lined in cotton osnaburg and has an interior pocket on the left side.

This jacket is based on  our personal examination of  the Bryan Jacket in the North Carolina Museum of History (accession number 1914.236.14). Though the belt loops have been removed from this original jacket we include them. The original has had cuff trim added and now lacks top stitching on the cuff. We suppose the top stitching was removed in order to add the trim and therefore include cuff top stitching on our reproduction.

Though we have not studied the Marsh jacket, it appears similar to the Marsh jacket found in Echoes of Glory on page 118.

Richmond Depot Type II jackets seem to have been produced by the Richmond Clothing Bureau primarily for the A.N.V. and to have been in production from the Spring of 1862 to mid-1864. They are seen in photographs in use through to the end of the war. This type of jacket made of blue gray kersey seem to have been in use at least as early as spring of 1863.
