This jacket has been made of our "Drab" jean cloth,Six piece body, two piece sleeves, nonbuttoning beltloops, nonbuttoning shoulder straps, nine button closure with Virginia buttons and a small Virginia button affixed through each shoulder strap. Lined in cotton osnaburg and has an inside pocket.
This style of jacket seems to have been produced by the Richmond Clothing Bureau primarily for the A.N.V.
This style of jacket seem to have been in production from the Spring of 1862 to mid-1864. They are seen in photographs in use through to the end of the war.
